Calmed Inlet | Rain Harvesting by Blue Mountain Co
New
100mm/4
Avoid sediment resuspension in your rainwater by using the Calmed Inlet. Water entering your tank at a high flow rate can resuspend any sediment or dirt that has settled on the floor of the tank back into your rainwater.

The Calmed Inlet allows water to enter your tank or rain barrel calmly, so that it doesn’t create turbulence and cause sediment resuspension.

Ideal for tanks or barrels that don’t use a screen or cover, the Calmed Inlet will help to oxygenate the rainwater in the lower area of your tank. This reduces anaerobic fermentation and keeps your water at its best. The result is cleaner and sediment-free water drawn directly from your tank or rain barrel.

Reduces sediment resuspension

The velocity of rainwater as it enters your tank creates turbulence, causing sediment to become resuspended which will make your water dirtier. The Calmed Inlet provides a buffer which slows the speed of the incoming water, to reduce the chance of sediment becoming resuspended. The Calmed Inlet helps to keep your water at it’s best.

KSP2 Calmed Inlet 1

  • Installation
    1. Prepare your tank for installation of your Calmed Inlet. Remove your tank cover if you have one. Installing you Calmed Inlet is easier with an empty tank, but it is not essential.
    2. Measure the distance from your tank inlet to the bottom of your tank. This will allow you to calculate the length of pipe required to mount in between your tank inlet and the calmed inlet. Make sure you use enough pipe so that the calmed inlet sits flat on the bottom of the tank.
    3. Cut your inlet pipe and ensure both ends are clean and free from burrs and sharp edges.
    4. Using solvent weld glue, glue one end of the pipe into the socket fitting on your calmed inlet.
    5. Place the calmed inlet in position on the bottom of the tank with the pipe rising towards the connection above your tank inlet.
    6. Glue the other end of the pipe into your inlet pipe fitting.

  • Product FAQs

How far into my tank or barrel do I need the Calmed Inlet to be for it to be effective?

The Calmed Inlet needs to sit flush with, and flat on the bottom of your tank or barrel. Make sure when you are measuring from the inlet of your tank or barrel to the floor in preparation for cutting your pipe, that your measurements allow for your piece of pipe to insert into the Calmed Inlet whilst it is positioned flat on the floor.
