Select a position to install your Downpipe Diverter which will allow a smooth path for the hose to your barrel. Note that this will depend on the installation position of your Downpipe Diverter relative to your rainwater storage vessel. For more information on this, refer to one of our Downpipe Diverter installation guides.
Using a cordless drill and the supplied hole saw, drill a hole in your rain barrel where you will be installing your outlet. Ensure the edges of the hole are free from burrs.
Take the main body of your Rain Barrel Outlet and insert in through the hole so that the barbed end is sticking out of the barrel.
Holding the main body in place, screw the nut onto the outside of the Rain Barrel Outlet and tighten using a spanner.
Install the 1 ¼” barbed outlet onto your Downpipe Diverter.
Using a knife, cut your 32mm hose to suit the distance between the outlet on your Downpipe Diverter and the Rain Barrel Outlet. For optimum performance, ensure that the hose forms a nice smooth path for unrestricted water flow.
Loosen both the stainless steel hose clamps with a screwdriver and place one on each end of the hose.
Press one end of the hose onto the Downpipe Diverter outlet so that it covers all of the barbed section. It should push on with a moderate amount of force, but softening the end of the hose with some warm water may make this easier if required.
Tighten the hose clamp, making sure it is gripping both the hose and the outlet.
Press the other end of the hose onto the Rain Barrel outlet and tighten the hose clamp.
